‘A Course in Miracles’ teaches that there are only two basic thought systems, one of perception and the other of knowledge. The thought system of perception is based upon a learned interpretation, not fact. A belief in perception is a belief in separation from God and from all. Guided by perception your world is measured by appearances, birth and death, time and unending change. Evil, sin, guilt, fear, scarcity, and hate rest comfortably in this thought system. Let’s call it by its real name – E G O. In the ego’s world, the ‘Command Center’ is the almighty body, period.
The thought system of knowledge (perception’s opposite), is truth. The real world, which reflects truth, can be seen only through spiritual vision, and not through the ‘Command Center’s’ eyes. The world of knowledge is of oneness, abundance, sinlessness, and love. Truth sees evil, sin, guilt, and hate as misperceptions, a lack of love, and offers correction rather than retribution.
An old Cherokee told his grandson, “My son, there is a battle between two Wolves inside us all. One is evil. It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies, and ego. The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy, and truth. The boy thought about it, and asked, “Grandfather which Wolf wins?” The old man quietly replied, “The one you feed.” -Author Unknown
Okay, count them, 1 (perception) + 1 (knowledge) = 2 (thought systems) and that’s it – two only. Whatever thought system you choose, you will experience.
With a perception/ego thought system, there will be a continuous flow of problems. Why? Because problems are nourishment to the ego, the more separated from knowledge the ego is, the stronger it gets. Choosing perception/ego is not good…not bad, it’s a choice.
Let me recognize the problem so it can be solved. -A Course in Miracles
With a knowledge thought system comes truth, comes love, comes God…and in that moment, the solution to your problem is solved. Also, a choice.
